Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. [Psalm 23:4]
This is my command–be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” [ Joshua 1:9]
This past weekend I decided to go to a local hiking spot in my area. The photos above show the beautiful scenery that I was able to capture.
Notice in the photos, all you see is the scene, there’s no animals, no people, no cars, nothing. It was truly just Jesus and myself.
As I began to walk I noticed that I truly was out on this hike alone. I know God was with me but in the natural, I didn’t see anyone. God started to speak, “Jasmine, in this life- you may have to walk alone. You may have to leave some people behind, some people may walk away, the same people you started with, may not be the same people you finish with. And be okay with walking alone (In the natural)” I’ll never leave you nor forsake you.
That revelation hit me like a ton of bricks. It all started to make sense. I questioned myself in times past- Why did sister XYZ do me like that? Why did sister XYZ stop talking to me like she normally talked to me, Why did this organization tell me they didn’t need me anymore? Why did brother XYZ close the door of our relationship? How could sister XYZ disrespect me like that but claim to be a loving Godly woman?
[The thoughts…..]
God has a distinct way of closing doors on OUR behalf. When God shuts down a relationship, reveals someone’s true character and motives- Trust what He shows you. God will reveal to you these things in individuals- its up to you to love like Christ, or retaliate and add more fuel to the fire. DON’T BLOCK YOUR BLESSINGS BY OVERCOMING EVIL WITH EVIL. [Romans 12:21]
I truly believe in killing with kindness – It takes a lot of self- control and discipline. Meekness and killing with kindness truly shows what you are made of. Individuals are to ask God for MORE fruit of the Spirit so we CAN handle situations more like Christ. I‘m learning when God shuts doors, or when folk stop talking to me, or falls back- I’m okay with it. [ God is saying that season is over]
Still love the person, but you can love individuals from a distance.
I listened to a quick sermon about relationships few days back and the speaker spoke on these “seasonal” and “situational” friendships. Seasonal friendships are just for a season- short time period someone can be in your life to teach you something, to be a lesson or a blessing. We know that God works all things together for our good. Romans 8:28 [Be okay when that season is finished]. Situational friendships are friendships that are there because of situations. Situations such as we go to the same church, we work at the same facility, we go to the same gym, we live in the same complex. A trust friendship will last when the individual leaves that church, moves to another city, leaves that job, transfers schools, moves from complex etc.
Thank God for the genuine God ordained, equally yoked friendships.
If you desire to have Godly, genuine friends- pray that God gives you that. Friends that you can TRUST and friends that you are EQUALLY yoked with. Friends that rejoice when you rejoice. It can just be ONE.
“One genuine friend is better than 10 fake/phony friends.”
All in all, be okay when you have to walk this walk alone. Everyone isn’t going where you are going. There comes a time where you will be a fork in the road with people. You will be going to the left and they will be going to the right. It’s okay! Still love and be okay that God is with you wherever you are headed.
“When going up the mountain, some people will have to stay in the valley.”

Some of the things that God has called YOU to do requires only YOU to do. We must get to the point where we are okay with walking this journey with just Christ. During this season is where you truly see God as your best friend and ONLY friend you need.
Love you guys! Remember to be the light!
