Fighting off Temptaion

Good evening everyone!

The Lord has placed this topic on my heart to share with you all. “Fighting off Temptation.”

Temptation is REAL. We live in the flesh, so our flesh is tempted.

There are three points that the bible talks to us about with being tempted.

  1. Lust of the eye
  2. Lust of the flesh
  3. Pride of life

When we come to realization that we were born into a fallen world, we will understand that until we leave this earth- there will always be temptation and tests.

Jesus Christ was assigned His assignment and by the flow of the bible, He was directed straight into the wilderness where He would find himself being tempted by satan.

One thing about the enemy/the devil/satan, he knows us really well, because for most of us- we have ran along and hung out with satan for quite some time before we were saved. Satan knows what we like, he knows what will trigger us to do certain things, he knows our desires, and he also knows our weaknesses.

Satan doesn’t play fair, he’s not going to tempt you with sweets if you don’t have a sweet-tooth. He’s not going to tempt you with alcohol if you don’t drink. He’s not going to tempt you with shopping if you dislike the mall. The enemy is going to tempt you with the very things that makes you cringe when you’re told to let it go.

These last few weeks, the Lord has really placed in my spirit to “Walk in the Spirit.” Staying in constant communication with Him. Reading and spending time with Him.

I’ve learned over time, in order to fight the devil off- we must refer back to scripture. When Jesus was led to the wilderness, He was tempted. The word tells us that he was tempted in everything you could possibly think of. (Lust of the flesh, Lust of the eye, and Pride of Life.)

But Jesus said “IT IS WRITTEN…”

In order to defeat the devil, we must not get in the ring with him. We can yell out from the side lines “IT IS WRITTEN…”

Use your imagination when I say “don’t get in the ring with him.”Because he will surely take you down! He will devour you if you don’t depend on Holy Spirit to help you during your time of weakness etc.

If you are dealing with temptation on any level, it could be with resisting from eating sweets/ unhealthy, or it could be Pride of life- wanting certain positions/titles for more power etc. Or it could be with Lust of the flesh or Lust of the eye. I encourage you to walk in the Spirit, announce that very struggle/temptation to the Lord- present it to Him  with all honesty. (He knows anyways) And allow Him to strengthen you. You must also be in the word.

God’s word is ALIVE and ACTIVE. Sharper than any two-edged sword & it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

Depend on the word of Holy Spirit to help you conquer the things that the devil tries to make you feel defeated in. Furthermore, if you mess up- fall short (we all do) get back up and REPENT (convert/turn away) and try again. Remember you can not do this in your own strength and in your own words.

Know your word, use the word as your WEAPON.

I love you guys so much,

Jesus loves you so much.

Be the Light

Jasmine ❤
