1 Samuel 15:22
English Standard Version
And Samuel said, “Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams.
New Living Translation
But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the LORD: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.
As I lay here in my bed, sinus infection and all. LOL it’s Saturday morning- My usual Saturday Morning I get up, work out, go grab some lunch, get up with friends etc. This Saturday was a little different.
So last Saturday is when the headaches started coming, the sinus pressure and all the rest. Last Saturday was also when we took out our ‘Designed in His image’ and Young men’s ministry out bowling. I didn’t want to go, the enemy was telling me to just stay home and sleep! Forget those little kids, They will be okay. But I “Rose Above” the emotions and feelings and told God- ” You are the One who gives me strength and energy…Provide.” And sure enough I pressed through and got up with the girlies and we had a good time in Jesus name.
I say that to say when you are working for God’s kingdom, and serving, don’t consider it strange when you start getting attacked. Attacked spiritually, attacked physically. The devil is mad that you are about your Father’s business. You are changing lives, saving souls and people are being set free because of your obedience to God speaking through you. One of my Ladies that I truly adore and Honor at my Church ( Evangelist Pat) told me “Jasmine, You have to realize these attacks when they come- this is the enemy. You are bringing folk to church, serving and bringing folk to Christ..” The Devil mad!” Man when she told me that, It’s like a lightning bulb went off in my head! So I seeeeeeeee! I have to use my WEAPON which is PRAISE to get the Devil off. Keep the name ‘Jesus’ on my tongue!
So I began to pray and Worship and Thank God in the midst of the pain. Shut the devil up. He has to flee!
Back to Obedience. lol
We must make sure that we take heed to what we feel the Holy Spirit is telling us. We have to be so in tuned to Him so that we can miss whatever it is that is tempting, that would cause us harm, that would lead us into something not Of God.
God see’s the seen and unseen. He knows whats going to happen before it happens. And we have to thank God for the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us. He gives us discernment. He helps us make decisions. If we ever don’t feel right about doing something, or have that intuition feeling in our head saying “OH NO, thats not right” Or “I don’t think this is a good idea” DO NOT IGNORE the promptings of the Holy Spirit. It is to protect you.
That date that Jimmy asked you to go out on, You didn’t have a good “feeling” about it. Your Spirit was screaming nooooo, DON’T GO. {Later to find out that he had a record of Sexual assault / abuse charges of Women}
That road trip you wanted to take but you felt a sense of uneasiness about it…DON’T GO. {Later to find out that you car needed new tires and You could have had a blow out on the highway}
That “lounge”/Club that Your not so saved friends invited you to attend and you felt the Holy Spirit saying no Sir, No ma’am, I don’t need you in there ” anything could pop off.” {Later to find out that same club was on the News for a massive terror attack shooting killing over half the people in the club}
See, we have to know that obeying God’s promptings and his word will keep us safe. In the Natural and Supernatural. We don’t see the unseen. We don’t see the Car wreck that we missed by just obeying God. We don’t see the shoot out/ drive by at that club that God told us not to go to.
WE must be sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s tugging. It’s a matter of being safe or not, could be a matter of life or death. We never know but we must obey the signs, intuition. Get past the emotions and feelings and sit down and Pray.
Love Yal so much! Be blessed
Be the light,
Jasmine
