Galatians 5:19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
This topic was put on my heart for this blog post. As I reflect and look at where i’ve come from, I thank God for choosing me. I thank God for picking me up and accepting me. I’m so thankful that God has shown me mercy and grace. I was a hot mess. And my actions showed that Eternity was not on my mind. I was in the world and of the world. But God has a way of allowing things to happen to you and get you smack dab on your face where you ain’t got nobody else to call on but God. I had hit rock bottom at a point in my life and I was like “wow Lord, is this even real..” I was so low I knew that I didn’t have nowhere else to go but up.
Some of my brothers and sisters are going through trials and tribulations. We are having to choose life or death in situations. Literally. Like, Am I going to go spend the night with that guy and indulge in some activities that consist of me breaking Gods law. Life or death. Like, Am I going to go to rob this store-because my children need Xmas gifts and I would love this new purse. Life and Death. Everyday we have to make Life or Death decisions. Let me explain Life or Death. – As Christians we believe that when we die, our souls/spirit goes up to be with the Lord. Eternity. So thats the life. The death part is actually dying and going to hell. It’s real. Sin separates us from the Lord. Yes he forgives. But lets stop using that as an excuse to continue to do the same things over and over. I’m going to have sex with this person, and then i’m just going to ask God to forgive me so i’ll be good… Well i’m here to tell you that God said that he was going to come back like a thief in the night. 1 Thessalonians 5:2 No man will know the minute or the hour. So that being said, What if the Lord happened to come back right when you where in the midst of doing something you ain’t have no business doing. What a way to finally meet him face to face and you indulging in something un-Christ like. The great Dr. Charles Stanley talks about that quite often how he tries his best to be on his best behavior, doing whats right because you never know when God is going to decide to come on back and I don’t know about yal, but I don’t wanna be in the midst of doing something unholy when he comes back. We gotta stay ready so we ain’t gotta get ready.
Forgivness. Pride. Humility – There are so many people holding grudges towards folk, so many people just angry with people that have hurt them months, years back. And just can’t seem to shake it. When they think of the particular individual they get mad all over again. Or when they hear the person’s name they wish bad upon them. I’m telling you right now you got to FORGIVE. Forgive for YOU. Not for them…. forgive them for YOUR well being. You getting mad and upset over them is only causing you turmoil in your life. And 9 times out of 10, that individual you are upset with has moved on about their life and just living. And you over here still tripping about what they did to you back in 07′. Set yourself free. Free yourself. Forgive. God tells us in his word that if you don’t forgive others, he will not forgive you. So think about that as well. God wants to take a lot of us to the next level but with that hate in our heart and bitterness, he can’t trust us. FORGIVE. Let it go and move on to the greatness that God has in store for for you.
Pride. God can’t stand a prideful person. He will never take them to the level that he wants to take them to. Scripture states in Psalm 10:4 In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God. The proud doesn’t think they need God. They think that they have gotten everything that they have on their own, they think that they can do everything in their OWN strength. They think that They are self-sufficient and they don’t need any help from the Lord. But i’m here to tell you that being prideful is not a trait that I would want to have. The Lord has given you everything you own. It kills me to hear folk say “Man I worked hard and got to this position on MY OWN!” I be like “Oh really?” So who woke you up this morning? Who gave you another day of life to do this position you are holding? Who have you the strength and health to be able to walk and talk and eat and just live?” Folk don’t give God the glory. Don’t forget who gave you life. Humility is KEY. God loves a humble servant. He can work with the Humble. He can trust the Humble. He can take the humble to the next level. Lets put that pride aside and really thank the Lord for all that he has done in our lives and lets give him the credit. He deserves it. Man I thank God for just another day. Some folk didn’t make it home from work today, some folk lost a family member or a loved one, Some folk got diagnosed with a terminal illness. Lord Thank you! I give you all the Glory!
In the end, Eternity is all that matters. You want to make sure that you are staying pure here in this world. Because life or death is at hand. I don’t know about yal, but I want to be in heaven with the Lord for ETERNITY. We are only here on this earth but for a short time. It’s nothing compared to what eternity in heaven is like.
Let’s make sure we are loving what God loves and hating what he hates. God says that” if you love me, You will follow my commands.”
John 14:21
Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.” -How beautiful is that. I love you Lord.
You guys are awesome. I love you all! Keep being the Light in this dark world. Let God use you. Spend crazy time with him. When you are tempted to do something crazy and out of your Christ-like character, ask yourself “Is it worth eternity?”
